KEN in the Airport Transport Industry

AEC Products, one of Axeze’s distributors and system integrators, successfully installed and commissioned the access control and  security system in one of South Australia’s airports.

The challenge was how to put together an Access Control System and CCTV monitoring equipment and remotely manage the system.

The ideal product was the KEN System with KEN-I/O. With the KEN-I/O, it was possible to interface the DVR/CCTV system with KEN via low-level interfaces. Alarms and events from the KEN readers may trigger alarm inputs into the DVR via the KEN-IO. This allowed the Airport management to monitor and record actual events/alarms that occur in the airport.

Access points in the airport are a combination of Axeze RFID readers and a Weigand Key Pad reader. While most of the airport staff had access cards that allowed them access to secure areas of the airport, visiting aircrew use the keypad reader to enter their own access code which they will later use to regain access to the tarmac.

Management of the whole system is via Axeze Network Management Software and Graphic User Interface, from the airport to management’s site that is several kilometres away from the airport.

The flexibility of the KEN system allowed AEC to combine different third party products (DVR/CCTV and Weigand readers) to create a  seamlessly integrated solution fit to satisfy the requirements of its client.
