Sydney Backpackers is a purpose Built Boutique Hostel located right in the heart of Sydney's Central Business district, 30 meters to the entrance of Townhall Railway Station & 150 Meters from Sydney Town Hall. The client was sick and tired of replacing locks and lost keys and wanted a system that gave them tighter control of who entered what room and when.
The client contracted Ausecom Electronics, Axeze’s distributor in Sydney to install an access control system to the existing building. Running new cables was not an option so the perfect solution was the KES.
40 KES units were installed to control access of staff and guests. Guests are provided with cards that allow them access to their rooms and common service areas. The staff cards allow them access to the hostel backroom and other facilities as desired by management.
Initially the client controlled the database using the KEMs software, the system can easily be upgraded to take advantage of the Master Programming Card.
The Master Programming Card (MPC) is used to add and delete cards. The KEMS software enables management to control who has tags and what areas they can have access. The database tracks the tag holder and/or tag number.
The KES solution allowed a very quick turn around of the project, as installation was done locally within the specific access point only. The whole system was up and running within just days. This was the most economical solution as this reduced the cost of cables and labour of the project. Over time the client has converted from using cards to using keyfobs. The reason for this is that keyfobs easily fit onto car keys and most tenants drive cars, so lost cards has been reduced.
The KES proved to be the most economical and easy-to-install system.
